Hi There!

I'm Rolando Pujol, and this is The Retrologist, my history blog that's mainly focused on New York City but will travel wherever there's a bit of cool history hiding in plain sight. I'm the digital content manager at WPIX-TV Channel 11, the CW station in New York. I oversee the website as well as social media and digital strategy. I've also hosted a New York history show that helped inspire The Retrologist, "Hidden City," on WNBC-TV's New York Nonstop. I was previously a multimedia editor at the New York Daily News, where I oversaw the America edition of the homepage in the evening. I've also been a managing editor at amNewYork and an assistant city editor at Newsday. I'm also a gold-star certified NYC tour guide, and love to spend my time off simply walking around New York and finding new material for The Retrologist. Thanks for stopping by.

Why is there a cow outside this East Village walkup on East 12th Street? Fiberglass cows, each uniquely decorated by artists, were placed all around the city in 2000. They were sold off and this one ended up here. Note the design: it features the skyline with the Twin Towers. This was 2000, after all. #art #publicart #sculpture #cows
