I'm Rolando Pujol, and this is The Retrologist, devoted to preserving the best of roadside Americana of the 20th century -- and whatever other vintage places and things that strike my fancy.
I'm the executive producer, digital at WPIX-TV Channel 11, the CW station in New York. PIX is one of the greatest independent TV stations in broadcasting history, and it is a pleasure to help chart its digital future while working with its archives to preserve and monetize its video past, dating to 1948.
I've also hosted a New York history show that helped inspire The Retrologist, "Hidden City," on WNBC-TV's New York Nonstop.
I was previously a multimedia editor at the New York Daily News, where I oversaw the America edition of the homepage in the evening. I've also been a managing editor at amNewYork and an assistant city editor at Newsday.
I'm also a gold-star certified NYC tour guide, and love to spend my time off simply walking around New York -- and driving across the country on road trips that almost always end in my beloved California -- and finding new material for The Retrologist. Thanks for stopping by.
